History of KAS

Consequently, the billing of ¡®87 marked close up to 100 billion won. As Korea holding the Olympics in ¡¯88, international interest in advertising was focused on Korea, resulting in concretization of potent companies¡¯ making inroads into the market, fueling the globalization of advertisements and trading volume exceeding above 130 billion won.

With the pressure upon the opening of the advertising market, not to mention its necessity, the international advertising market will be fully open in 1991 due to policy decisions; a great inflow of international advertising companies expected. In order to cope with these abrupt changes in advertising environments and situations, the need for profound and comprehensive academic research, development of in-service techniques of advertisement and the cooperation between the advertising specialists cannot be more emphasized.

It became imperative to establish an advertising society to concentrate and display all-out abilities, in order to meet theses demands. As a result, the establishment of the society initiated with professors Boong-no Yoo, Chang-gyu Hwang, Won-su Kim, and Young-sup Song up front. A series of preliminary meetings were held in 1898 to materialize the establishment of the Korea Advertising Society(KAS).
